Alcohol: 14.1 %
Grape(s): 83 % Cabernet Franc, 8 % Merlot, 5 % Malbec, 4 % Cabernet Sauvignon
Location: Sonoma County, California, USA
Tasting Notes: Deep ruby-purple in the glass, with expressive aromas of fresh rose petal, cherry blossom, California bay laurel, crushed pomegranate, blackberry coulis, cinnamon, and brown buttered toast. The palate is structured and precise, showing a Cabernet Franc-driven profile with powdery tannins, lively acidity, and a very long finish. The wine is detailed and layered, balancing floral lift, dark fruit, and savory oak spice.
Notes: Le Désir is Vérité’s Cabernet Franc-led cuvée, inspired by Saint-Émilion. The 2019 vintage was aged for 16 months in French oak, with 95 % new barrels, and the fruit came from several Sonoma County appellations, including Alexander Valley, Bennett Valley, Chalk Hill, and Knights Valley. Producers and retailers describe the vintage as classically balanced, generous in fruit, and built for long aging.
Food Pairing: Roast duck, beef tenderloin, lamb chops, venison, or mushroom and truffle dishes.
Winery Story: Vérité is a Sonoma County producer founded by Pierre Seillan, known for Bordeaux-inspired blends made from many small micro-crus across the county. Le Désir is the estate’s Cabernet Franc-dominant wine and the most clearly Saint-Émilion-influenced of its flagship cuvées.
