Alcohol: 14.4 %
Grape(s): 64 % Cabernet Franc, 27 % Merlot, 5 % Cabernet Sauvignon, 4 % Malbec
Location: Sonoma County, California, USA
Tasting Notes: Inky garnet in the glass, with a highly aromatic nose of blackberries, red currant, wild strawberries, roses, graphite, iron, leather, cigar box, and subtle herbal notes. The palate is structured and precise, combining bright red fruit with rocky minerality, silky tannins, and a linear finish. It is expressive in youth, but has the depth and balance to age for decades.
Notes: Le Désir is Vérité’s Cabernet Franc-led cuvée, inspired by the wines of Saint-Émilion. The 2015 vintage was aged 17 months in 100 % French oak, with a majority of new barrels. Fruit came from several Sonoma sites, including Alexander Valley, Bennett Valley, Chalk Hill, and Knights Valley. It was produced in limited quantity, with about 2,500 cases made.
Food Pairing: Roast duck, beef tenderloin, lamb chops, venison, or dishes with mushrooms and truffles.
Winery Story: Vérité is a Sonoma producer founded by Pierre Seillan, known for Bordeaux-inspired blends built from many micro-crus across Sonoma County. Le Désir is the estate’s Cabernet Franc-dominant wine and the most clearly Saint-Émilion-influenced of the three flagship cuvées.
