Alcohol: 13.0 %

Grape(s): Verdicchio

Location: Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi DOC Classico Superiore, Marche, Italy

Tasting Notes: Bright straw yellow. A concentrated yet crystalline Verdicchio: white peach, lemon curd, acacia flower, fresh almond and a chalky mineral core on the nose. Medium-bodied and impressively textured on the palate — the lees aging gives depth and a gently creamy mid-palate — while vivid acidity and a classic bitter-almond finish keep it precise and mouthwatering. Long and saline on the close. Ready now, it will gain complexity for 3-5 years in the cellar.

Notes: Casal di Serra is one of Italy’s pioneering single-vineyard white wines, first bottled in the 1980s from a historic parcel on the Montesicuro hills in the heart of the Castelli di Jesi Classico zone. 100% Verdicchio, harvested at optimal ripeness, fermented in stainless steel and aged for months on fine lees — no oak — to build texture while preserving the variety’s signature aromatic lift. The Classico Superiore designation denotes riper fruit and lower yields from the zone’s oldest heart. The 2024 vintage gave fresh, expressive whites.

Food Pairing: Excellent with Adriatic seafood, brodetto, fish stews, linguine with clams, roast chicken, or medium-aged cheeses.

Winery Story: Umani Ronchi was founded in 1957 in Cupra Marittima and is today one of central Italy’s benchmark certified-organic estates. Verdicchio is its most celebrated calling card, and Casal di Serra — the wine that helped put the Castelli di Jesi on the world map — remains the firm’s signature white.
