Alcohol: 14.5 %
Grape(s): Cabernet Sauvignon, Garnacha
Location: DOQ Priorat, Catalonia, Spain
Tasting Notes: Cherry red of medium intensity. An expressive introduction to Priorat: ripe red cherry, blackcurrant and wild berry on the nose, with Mediterranean garrigue, crushed slate and a hint of sweet spice. Full-bodied and warm on the palate — Priorat’s llicorella minerality gives the ripe fruit a stony backbone — with velvet-textured tannins and a long, savory finish of dark fruit and licorice. Drinking beautifully now, and it will keep developing over the next 4-5 years.
Notes: Lo Petit de la Casa — “the little one of the house” — is the estate’s introductory wine, drawn from its younger vines planted on the black slate (llicorella) terraces that define the DOQ. The blend is built around Cabernet Sauvignon with Garnacha, fermented parcel by parcel and aged briefly in French oak to frame the fruit without masking it. The vintage gave concentrated, sun-ripened reds with fresh acidity keeping them in balance.
Food Pairing: Excellent with grilled lamb, roasted meats, oxtail stews, chorizo and cured sheep’s milk cheeses.
Winery Story: Trossos del Priorat is a small, family-run winery in the heart of Priorat, where old terraces of llicorella slate are farmed by hand in one of Spain’s most dramatic wine landscapes. With a tiny production and an estate house welcoming guests among the vines, the family’s mission is to bottle the wild, mineral soul of Priorat — Lo Petit is its open door.
