Tasting Notes: Badia a Corte” is a single vineyard, 100% Sangiovese that expresses all the signature traits of a classic Chianti: notes of violets and ripe Morello cherry are seamlessly melded with hints of tobacco leaf and eucalyptus. The powerful yet poised body is supported by fine tannins and ripe berry fruits' clean, precise finish.
Notes: 100% Sangiovese hand-harvested from the “Badia a Corte” vineyard, on the typical Alberese limestone soils. The grapes are fermented at controlled temperature in stainless steel vats with a selection of native yeasts, with 15 days of maceration with the skins. The wine is aged in large 25HL Slavonian oak casks for 24 months and for 6 months in a bottle before release.
Food pairing: We recommend a classic pairing with a grilled porterhouse steak, or with braised beef or roasted lamb. Will work equally well with aged Tuscan Pecorino cheese.
The Domain: Torre a Cona is a gorgeous estate just South of Florence, in the heart of Tuscany. The magnificent tower at the center of it dates back to 1100 A.D. while the rest of the Villa building was built by the Rinuccini Family between 1500 and 1700 A.D. Today, the estate is owned and managed by Niccolò Rossi di Montelera, the heir of the noble Family from Piedmont. Torre a Cona’s winemaking team farms the 40 acres of estate vineyards practicing sustainable agriculture, with the utmost respect for their land and environment. The vineyard work is conducted under the expert supervision of Federico Curtaz, one of the most respected viticulturists in Italy, while the winemaking team works under the supervision of Beppe Caviola, a Piemontese winemaker known for its refined and respectful style.
