Location: IGT Toscana, Tenuta di Arceno estate, Castelnuovo Berardenga (southeastern Chianti Classico), Tuscany, Italy

Tasting Notes: Lustrous deep-ruby. Aromas of black cherry, wild blackberry, and ripe plum meld with violets, pencil shavings, and sweet tobacco. The palate is full-bodied yet poised, delivering plush dark-fruit concentration framed by vibrant acidity and polished, fine-grained tannins. Layers of baking spice, cocoa nib, and graphite unfold toward a long, savory finish marked by Mediterranean herb and lifted minerality.

Notes: Il Fauno di Arcanum is drawn from the estate’s hillside blocks—sandstone, galestro, and alluvial clay at 300–400 m altitude—harvested parcel-by-parcel between mid-September and early October. Each lot ferments separately in small stainless tanks with native yeasts; gentle pump-overs preserve aromatic purity. The blend ages 12 months in French oak barriques (≈35 % new) before final assemblage and a further 6 months in bottle. Estate-grown, sustainably farmed, vegan-friendly; minimal fining and filtration.

Food Pairing: Perfect with bistecca alla Fiorentina, slow-braised short ribs, pappardelle al cinghiale, roasted portobello mushrooms, or aged Pecorino Toscano. The wine’s balance of richness and freshness complements both hearty meat dishes and herb-laden Tuscan fare.

Winery Story: Tenuta di Arceno spans 1 000 ha of forest, olive groves, and 92 ha of vines on the storied Arceno estate dating to the 16th century. Since 1994 it has been stewarded by the Jackson family, with veteran winemaker Pierre Seillan applying his “micro-cru” philosophy: 63 distinct vineyard blocks are harvested and vinified separately to showcase their unique voices. Il Fauno—named for the playful mythic guardian of Arceno’s gardens—embodies the estate’s Bordeaux-inspired blends, marrying Tuscan terroir with precision winemaking to yield a suave, age-worthy Super-Tuscan.
