Grape(s): Verdelho
Localization: Madeira, Portugal
Tasting Notes: Off-dry and beautifully lifted, with preserved lemon, baked apple, toasted almond and a smoky, saline edge. Medium-bodied with vivid acidity and a long, dry-tinged finish. Classic all-purpose Madeira: pour it with soup, roasted poultry, cured ham or aged cheese.
Notes: From the Rare Wine Co Historic Series, which honors the American cities that drove the Madeira trade in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. Savannah was a major colonial port for the wine. Verdelho, the middle of the traditional sweetness range, was the style most often drunk with meals.
