Alcohol: Less than 0.5% (dealcoholized)
Grape(s): 100% Chardonnay
Location: Vineyards within 10 km of Haus Rothenberg, Langenlonsheim, Nahe, Germany
Tasting Notes: Pale gold with aromas of ripe pear, white peach and a subtle toasted-oak note. The palate is round and textured, carrying the creamy weight of barrel-aging on fine lees through to a clean, balanced finish.
Notes: Vinified from the start for dealcoholization. Extended maceration before pressing softens acidity; the wine is aged in stainless steel, then transferred with its fine lees into large, 4-6 year old 2,000-liter oak casks before the alcohol is gently removed by reverse osmosis.
Food Pairing: Roast chicken, seafood, creamy pasta, soft cheeses.
Winery Story: Quelle is the non-alcoholic wine line from Haus Rothenberg, a new project built on roughly 10 hectares of mature Nahe vineyards acquired from the long-established Sitzius estate. Georg Rumpf (of Weingut Kruger-Rumpf) oversees the vineyards and cellar, and Julia Rumpf leads the project. The philosophy is simple: rather than removing alcohol from a finished wine, they grow and vinify base wines specifically designed for premium dealcoholization, so the wines stay balanced without masking sugar. The alcohol is removed by reverse osmosis, a gentle cold process that preserves aromatics, phenolics, and natural acidity. All vineyards are farmed organically and sustainably, in transition toward certification.
