Alcohol: 14,3%
Grape(s): Chardonnay
Localization: Sonoma Coast, California, USA
Tasting Notes: Ripe figs, honeysuckle, pear tart, and mineral notes are among the effusive aromas of this intense white, turning more tropical and vanilla-tinged on the palate, with cedary oak integrated among the copious layers of flavor. Bold and full-bodied, the rich and creamy mouthful finds finesse on the long finish.
The Domain: Marcassin is owned by the dynamic duo of John Wetlaufer and Helen Turley who Robert Parker has ordained as “the reigning geniuses” of both Chardonnay and Pinot Noir in America. While that may sound like hyperbole, the fact remains that Marcassin commands far higher collector demand than any other white wine or red wine (apart from Cult Cabernet) in California. Turley first gained tremendous fame as an integral part of the original Napa Cult wines decades ago. She served as the original winemaker at Colgin Cellars, Bryant Family, and Pahlmeyer.
