Alcohol: 11.5 %
Grape(s): 100% Riesling
Location: Rheingau, Germany
Tasting Notes: Brilliant lemon-yellow in the glass. The nose offers green apple, peach, apricot and lime with a touch of fine minerality from the slate and loess soils. The palate is dry and juicy with lively, crisp acidity, clean texture and a long, clean finish.
Notes: The grapes are hand-harvested from sites around the historic monastery in the Rheingau, grown on limestone-rich loess and slate soils. This is the estate-level VDP Gutswein, made dry (trocken) and meant for everyday drinking. Serve chilled at 8 to 10 C.
Food Pairing: Sashimi of salmon or tuna, mussels in a light broth, green vegetables, herb soups and light white meats.
Winery Story: Kloster Eberbach has been making wine since 1136, when Cistercian monks founded the monastery as a daughter house of Clairvaux. Today the state-owned estate farms some of the Rheingau's best sites, including the walled Steinberg vineyard, and focuses on elegant, mineral Rieslings.
