Tasting Notes: The Jayson “The Bench” Cabernet Sauvignon showcases the quintessential character of Atlas Peak mountain fruit. Intense aromas of blackberry and boysenberry are underscored by subtle notes of white pepper. On the palate, plush layers of concentrated dark fruit complemented by elegant cocoa-chocolate tannins unfold with each sip. The balanced 2023 vintage brings remarkable focus and detail to the fruit, while the subtle impact of French oak imparts an opulent lingering sweetness.

The Domain: Pahlmeyer was founded in 1986, by a desire to be great by its eponymous creator Jayson Pahlmeyer. With a dream of creating a California Mouton, Jayson and his partners spared no resource to make it a reality. Whether it was finding the perfect piece of land high atop Napa Valley’s Atlas Peak or covertly smuggling in Bordeaux cuttings, every piece of Pahlmeyer’s history has led to its place as one of the top brands in Napa Valley. From the very beginning, Pahlmeyer has been dedicated to crafting fine wines from the best possible fruit sources. In California, this means high-elevation mountain sites where grapes receive more sunlight, cooler temperatures, and less fertile soils, creating ideal conditions. Pahlmeyer sources the majority of their fruit from four key locations: Pahlmeyer Estate (Atlas Peak), Stagecoach (Atlas Peak / Pritchard Hill), Rancho Chimiles, and Antica.
