Alcohol: 12.21 %

Grape(s): 100 % Pinot Noir

Location: Coombsville AVA, Napa Valley, California, USA

Tasting Notes: Medium ruby in color, with an expressive nose of cardamom, clove, tobacco leaf, green tea, red cherry, and raspberry. The palate is bright and savory, showing juicy red fruit, fresh acidity, and a lightly grainy tannic grip. The finish is mouthwatering and persistent, with sage, bay leaf, and a cool mineral edge.

Notes: Forgeron is one of the estate tiers at Haynes Vineyard, made from a large percentage of the oldest Pinot Noir vines on the property, planted in 1967–1968. The 2021 wine was fermented with a high proportion of whole clusters and aged for 11 months in larger, low-impact vessels, with minimal oak influence. The site is certified organic and biodynamic, and the wine is exclusive to Haynes Vineyard from the 2020 vintage onward.

Food Pairing: Roast duck, mushroom risotto, grilled salmon, pork tenderloin, or herb-roasted poultry.

Winery Story: Haynes Vineyard is a historic Coombsville site planted in the late 1960s, known for its cool-volcanic terroir and old vines. The estate now bottles its own wines under tiers such as Vigneron and Forgeron, with Forgeron representing the older-vine, more structured expression of the vineyard.
