Alcohol: 14 %
Grape(s): 100 % Primitivo
Location: Salento IGP, Puglia, Italy (San Giorgio Jonico area, 80–120 m a.s.l.)
Tasting Notes: Dark ruby-red with violet highlights. The nose bursts with ripe blackberry, black cherry, and plum jam accented by sweet spices—clove, cinnamon—and a hint of cacao. Generous and velvety on the palate: lush dark-fruit core balanced by fresh acidity and polished tannins. Subtle notes of licorice, dried fig, and vanilla appear toward a warm, lingering, fruit-driven finish.
Notes: “Avoglia” Primitivo 2024 comes from 20- to 40-year-old bush vines rooted in red, iron-rich clay over limestone. Night harvesting preserves aromatics; fermentation in stainless steel with 10–12 days on skins. Matured 6 months in a mix of French and American oak (second/third-fill) for texture while retaining vibrant fruit. Vegan-friendly; certified sustainable under SQNPI.
Food Pairing: Perfect with grilled sausages, pulled-pork sliders, lasagne al forno, eggplant Parmigiana, aged Pecorino, or dark-chocolate mole.
Winery Story: Cantine Giustini is a family estate founded in 2005 near Taranto. Now run by the third generation, the winery focuses on indigenous varieties—Primitivo, Negroamaro, Susumaniello—farmed organically across 30 ha of low-yielding vineyards. “Avoglia” (dialect for “of course/why not”) embodies Giustini’s philosophy: approachable, fruit-pure wines that celebrate Salento’s sun-soaked terroir while respecting the land through minimal-impact viticulture and energy-efficient cellar practices.
