Alcohol: 13.0 %
Grape(s): Riesling
Location: Alsace Grand Cru Mandelberg, Mittelwihr, Alsace, France
Tasting Notes: Bright pale gold. A beautiful citrus and orchard-fruit nose with the classic Riesling whisper of petrol, plus white flowers and a stony mineral edge. On the palate it is dry and precise — lemon, lime and quinine over the Mandelberg’s limestone-marl backbone — well balanced, with a round mouthfeel, electric acidity and a long, deep citrus finish. An elegant, age-worthy Alsace Riesling; enjoy over the next decade.
Notes: 100% Riesling from the Mandelberg Grand Cru, a steep, south-facing slope named for its almond trees (“Mandelberg” = almond mountain), whose marl and limestone soils give Riesling both power and finesse. Hand-harvested, slow cool fermentation, extended lees aging and bottling without filtration. The 2022 vintage in Alsace was warm and generous, with ripeness balanced by the site’s natural acidity.
Food Pairing: Excellent with choucroute, roast pork, rich fish like salmon or turbot, Thai curry, and aged Comté or Münster.
Winery Story: Domaine Specht is a family estate in Mittelwihr, in the heart of Alsace, where the Spechts have farmed vines for generations. From the storied slopes of the Mandelberg — one of the region’s 51 Grands Crus — they craft pure, site-driven Riesling in the traditional dry Alsace style.
