Alcohol: 13.0 %

Grape(s): Gamay

Location: Moulin-à-Vent AOC, Beaujolais, Burgundy, France

Tasting Notes: Deep ruby-purple. Generous aromas of black fruits — black cherry, blackberry and plum — woven with licorice, violet and crushed granite. Full and structured on the palate: silky Gamay fruit backed by the fine, firm tannins that made Moulin-à-Vent the “crushed flower” king of the ten Beaujolais crus, and a long, savory, mineral finish. A serious Beaujolais built to age gracefully — enjoy now with a light chill or cellar 3-5 years through the late 2020s.

Notes: 100% Gamay from the Gros Vosges lieu-dit in Moulin-à-Vent, the cru’s granite-and-manganese soils giving the wine its famous depth and structure. Hand-harvested, semi-carbonic maceration kept gentle to preserve fruit purity, with élevage designed to honor terroir over technique. The warm 2023 vintage gave concentrated, generous Beaujolais.

Food Pairing: Excellent with roast chicken, pork tenderloin, coq au vin, charcuterie boards, and Comté or washed-rind cheeses.

Winery Story: Domaine de la Fond Moiroux sits among the golden Pierres Dorées stones of Cogny in southern Beaujolais, run by agricultural scientists whose meticulous, terroir-first farming has made their crus a critical favorite. Gros Vosges is their flagship Moulin-à-Vent — structured, precise and unmistakably Beaujolais; it reaches the US through importer Monsieur Touton.
