Cristom Pinot Noir Jessie Vineyard 2022
Alcohol: 13.5%
Grape(s): 100% Pinot Noir
Location: Eola-Amity Hills, Willamette Valley, Oregon, USA
Tasting Notes: Translucent ruby color with garnet edges; alluring aromas of fresh red cherry, wild strawberry and raspberry, interwoven with notes of dried rose petal, forest floor, subtle oak spice and a whisper of iron-rich minerality; medium-bodied with silky, refined tannins and a vibrant, Burgundian-style acidity, offering elegant flavors of red and dark fruit, cedar, earthy mushroom and a touch of vanilla, culminating in a long, graceful and deeply expressive finish.
Notes: Named after one of the Cristom estate's founding vineyard blocks, the Jessie Vineyard is planted on volcanic Jory and Nekia soils at elevation in the Eola-Amity Hills AVA — a site renowned for its cooling marine winds from the Van Duzer Corridor that preserve freshness and extend the growing season. Whole-cluster fermentation and aging in French oak barrels lend additional complexity and structure to this single-vineyard benchmark.
Food Pairing: Pairs beautifully with roast duck, lamb chops, wild mushroom risotto, salmon en croûte, charcuterie and aged Burgundy-style cheeses.
Winery Story: Founded in 1992 by Paul and Eileen Gerrie, Cristom Vineyards is one of the Willamette Valley's most celebrated and pioneering estates. Located in the Eola-Amity Hills, the winery is guided by winemaker Steve Doerner, whose Burgundian philosophy and decades of experience have shaped Cristom's signature style — one of elegance, restraint and profound terroir expression. Farmed biodynamically, the estate's single-vineyard Pinot Noirs — including Jessie, Louise, Marjorie and Eileen — are consistently regarded as among the finest produced in Oregon, drawing comparisons to the great wines of Burgundy's Côte de Nuits.
