Alcohol: 14%

Grape(s): 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot

Location: Saint-Estèphe, Bordeaux, France

Tasting Notes: Deep, dark ruby-red. The nose is expressive and complex, with blackcurrant, cassis, graphite, licorice and exotic spice. Vibrant acidity carries the powerful, precisely etched fruit across a palate framed by famously silky tannins, finishing long and saline.

Notes: The 2019 grand vin from this Second Growth is drawn from the estate's oldest Cabernet Sauvignon parcels, vinified in the gravity-fed cellar with no pumps, and aged in French oak.

Food Pairing: Lamb, rib of beef, venison, and hard aged cheeses.

Winery Story: Founded in 1811 by Louis Gaspard d'Estournel, nicknamed the Maharajah of Saint-Estèphe for his flamboyant trade with India, Cos d'Estournel is one of Bordeaux's most charismatic estates. Its pagoda-topped chais and landmark gravity-fed winery have made it a Saint-Estèphe icon for over two centuries.
