Tasting Notes: Firm and structured, with dark currant and blackberry fruit over the fractured limestone and sandy-clay character typical of Saint-Estèphe, framed by grippy, age-worthy tannins.
Notes: A blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot. Grapes undergo a double selection, in the vineyard and again at the winery, before pressing in a wooden basket press and fermenting in cement tanks. The wine ages a year in two- and three-year-old barrels from a local Médocain cooper.
Food Pairing: Grilled steak, lamb chops, and firm aged cheeses.
Winery Story: Marc and Céline Druesne created Château Marceline in 2009 from Céline's family vineyards in Saint-Estèphe, worked for four generations before that as grape growers for the local cooperative. Just 1.2 hectares across 12 parcels, farmed organically with minimal intervention, producing about 650 cases a year; classified Cru Artisan in 2018.
