Tasting Notes: The Lassègue shows an intense color. The estate’s terroir maximized the potential of this excellent vintage thanks to our 50+-year-old vines and the freshness of the limestone soils. On the nose, the richness of the Merlot is complemented by the Cabernet Franc's extravagance; after aeration, the bouquet develops subtle notes of cassis and violet. The palate explodes with silky, round red and black fruit, while the finish is dominated by black fruit with barely perceptible, rounded tannins. The Lassègue is among the great vintages, characterized by freshness, complexity, and power, reflecting the estate’s clay and limestone soils on the slopes. This is a vintage with excellent aging potential.

95 points Decanter: Wide, powdery, fine but firm tannins; a lovely density to this. Concentrated and intense, very straight and streamlined. Finessed and focused. Clearly powerful, the energy is apparent, but all the elements are kept quite tight and controlled, so you're not getting so much expansion or nuance necessarily. Still, well worked with clarity to the fruit and tannins. Wet stone, liquorice, toasted caramel all giving elements of wood but integrated and supportive. Feels like a sleeping giant, will be good in time, sleek and stylish.

The Domain: Chateau Lassegue is the stunning St. Emilion property purchased by the Jackson Family, making it one of the region's top performers. With Winemaker Pierre Seillan (also of Verite), the Lassegue team turns out exceptional right bank Bordeaux every vintage. Located on the Côte de Saint-Émilion, the vineyards of Chateau Lassegue are blessed with extraordinary soils and an ideal south/south-west exposition to the sun. In discovering the unique micro-crus of the property, Pierre Seillan realized he could produce more than one wine to showcase the estate's diversity.
