Tasting Notes: Beautiful golden yellow in color with a delicate, persistent mousse, this expressive Extra Brut Champagne offers an enticing bouquet of dried apricot, ripe orchard fruits, honey, and beeswax, complemented by elegant notes of toasted bread, roasted nuts, and delicate spice. On the palate, it is generous, rounded, and beautifully textured, revealing layers of ripe stone fruit, fruit preserves, and subtle toasted flavors. The richness of Pinot Meunier combines with the silky structure of Pinot Noir, creating a harmonious balance between depth, freshness, and finesse. A refined mineral tension emerges on the finish, leaving a long, elegant impression with lingering notes of honey, dried fruit, and toasted brioche.
Notes: Crafted from carefully selected vineyard parcels in Monthelon and Mancy, on the southern slopes of Épernay, and Boursault in the Vallée de la Marne. The vineyards, averaging 45 to 50 years of age, are rooted in clay-limestone soils that contribute richness, character, and mineral complexity. The blend consists of 85% Pinot Meunier and 15% Pinot Noir, combining 76% wine from the 2018 harvest with 24% perpetual reserve wine for additional depth and complexity. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, followed by full malolactic fermentation. The wine spends 10 months in stainless steel before bottling and an impressive 60 months aging in the estate's chalk cellars, developing remarkable richness and refinement. Finished with an Extra Brut dosage of just 4 grams per liter, Accord Majeur delivers exceptional balance, freshness, and gastronomic versatility.
Food Pairing: An outstanding Champagne for both aperitifs and food pairings. Its generous texture and complex savory character make it an excellent companion to roasted chicken, turkey, veal, and creamy poultry dishes. It also pairs beautifully with seared scallops, mushroom risotto, roasted lobster, and dishes featuring buttery or creamy sauces. For cheese lovers, try aged Comté, Gruyère, Brie, or nutty Alpine-style cheeses. Its rich fruit and refined freshness also make it a delightful match for desserts featuring subtle notes of chocolate, toasted nuts, or stone fruits. A wonderfully versatile Champagne that can accompany an entire meal.
Winery Story: Champagne Lancelot-Pienne is a distinguished family-owned grower Champagne estate located in the prestigious Grand Cru village of Cramant, in the heart of the Côte des Blancs. With a winemaking heritage spanning five generations, the family has developed a deep understanding of Champagne's diverse vineyards and exceptional terroirs. Today, the estate is led by talented winemaker and oenologist Gilles Lancelot, who carefully oversees approximately 8.5 hectares of vineyards divided among more than 60 individual parcels. Each parcel is treated as a unique expression of its terroir, reflecting the family's commitment to thoughtful vineyard management and precise winemaking. Accord Majeur, meaning "Major Chord," takes its inspiration from music, symbolizing the harmony created when different elements come together in perfect balance. This remarkable cuvée showcases the richness of Pinot Meunier, the elegance of Pinot Noir, and the meticulous craftsmanship that define the Lancelot-Pienne style. A beautifully expressive grower Champagne that combines tradition, authenticity, and exceptional refinement.
