Alcohol: 12.5 %

Grape(s): 100 % Chardonnay

Location: Montgueux, Champagne, France

Tasting Notes: Pale gold with a fine, persistent mousse. The nose is focused and expressive, with citrus, white flowers, green apple, chalk, and a subtle toasted note. The palate is dry, concentrated, and mineral, balancing ripe Chardonnay richness with bright acidity, saline chalkiness, and a long, precise finish.

Notes: Clos Sainte-Sophie is a single-plot Champagne from old Chardonnay vines in Montgueux, and the 2011 vintage is generally presented as a rare Blanc de Blancs Brut Nature/Extra Brut style with extended lees aging and no or very low dosage. It is described as a highly limited cuvée from Jacques Lassaigne, with élevage in older barrels and bottle aging before release.

Food Pairing: Works well with oysters, sashimi, shellfish, roast poultry, and refined seafood dishes.

Winery Story: Jacques Lassaigne is a grower Champagne domaine in Montgueux known for Chardonnay-driven wines that emphasize chalk, precision, and texture. Clos Sainte-Sophie is one of its most distinctive vineyard bottlings and is widely regarded as a rare, high-end cuvée.
