Grape(s): 70% Catarratto, 30% Grillo
Location: Sicily, Italy
Tasting Notes: Scopa Siciliane Bianco is an organic wine blend of 70% Catarratto and 30% Grillo sourced from vineyards in Partinico, Palermo. It undergoes manual harvesting, 36 hours of maceration on Catarratto, direct pressing for Grillo, stainless-steel fermentation, and is bottled unfined and unfiltered. Light-bodied but fresh and bright with hints of sea-spray on the tongue.
Winery Story: The Scopa winery is a collaboration between Sicilian wine growers and Coeur Wine Co. These wines originate from Partinico in the Sicilian province of Palermo and are crafted from certified-organic vineyards owned and cultivated by families at about 440 m elevation. The vineyards grow on sandy and loamy soils of the northern Sicilian coast, imparting notable freshness. Grapes are hand-harvested and undergo spontaneous fermentation. These approachable, fun wines offer great value and are especially well suited to warm weather.
