Alcohol: 13.0 %
Grape(s): 100 % Pinot Noir
Location: Gevrey-Chambertin, Côte de Nuits, Burgundy, France
Tasting Notes: Bright mid-pale to ruby cherry color. The nose shows pure red and dark berries, with notes of wild red currant, plum, menthol, wood spice, and a touch of sauvage character. The palate is medium-bodied, ripe, and inviting, with fine-grained tannins, crisp acidity, and a balanced, lightly austere finish that stays elegant and classic.
Notes: Sourced from multiple parcels, fermented and aged with a notable share of new oak, and styled as a dense but refined village Gevrey with good depth and aging potential. Recent trade notes place the drinking window from around 2027 onward, with cellaring potential into the 2030s.
Food Pairing: Roast duck, beef bourguignon, grilled lamb, venison, or mushroom dishes.
Winery Story: Domaine Sérafin Père & Fils is a Gevrey-Chambertin estate known for structured, old-school Côte de Nuits reds that combine ripe fruit with firm tannin and serious depth. The 2022 village wine is described by merchants as a more polished, fruit-forward expression than earlier, more heavily extracted styles, while still remaining distinctly Gevrey in character.
