Alcohol: 20%
Grape(s): Palomino
Location: Jerez, Andalucia, Spain
Tasting Notes: Pale amber in the glass. Toasted almonds, caramel, fig and orange zest on the nose. Bone dry on the palate with walnuts, baking spice, woodsmoke and a salty, tangy, very long finish.
Notes: Palo Cortado is the rarest sherry style, starting life under flor like an amontillado before turning toward the richness of an oloroso. Leonor is aged an average of 12 years in the solera system before bottling.
Food Pairing: Aged Manchego, Gruyere, roasted nuts, jamon iberico, mushroom dishes and roast poultry. Serve lightly chilled.
Winery Story: Gonzalez Byass has been making sherry in Jerez de la Frontera since 1835 and is home to the famed Tio Pepe. Its Leonor Palo Cortado is a benchmark for the style, a dry, nutty sherry that rewards sipping and pairs beautifully with food.
