Grape(s): Nebbiolo

Location: Barolo DOCG, Piedmont, Italy

Tasting Notes: Ruby red with luminous orange reflections. Restrained, complex and spicy: dried roses, licorice and wild strawberry on the nose, woven with leather, tobacco, violet, tar and vibrant orange peel. Medium-to-full bodied on the palate, with a savory, almost meaty depth behind the red fruit, Nebbiolo’s fine taut tannins and bright acidity carrying to a long, layered finish. A classic, savory Barolo — approachable in its youth but with the structure to age gracefully over the next 8-10 years.

Notes: Lecinquevigne — “the five vineyards” — is Damilano’s Barolo assembled from fruit sourced across five of the estate’s finest Barolo vineyard sites, blended for a complete picture of the appellation. Traditional fermentation and aging in large oak casks respect Nebbiolo’s aromatic purity while rounding its famous structure. The warm vintage gave forward, approachable reds with spice and depth.

Food Pairing: Excellent with braised beef, truffle tagliatelle, roast game, aged Parmigiano-Reggiano, and mushroom risotto.

Winery Story: Damilano is one of Barolo’s historic houses, founded in 1890 when Giacomo Damilano began vinifying Nebbiolo in La Morra. Now led by the family’s later generations, the estate blends 130 years of tradition with modern precision, bottling both benchmark single-vineyard Baroli from famous crus and Lecinquevigne — the house style in its purest, most welcoming form.
