Tasting Notes: The Dr. Loosen Ürziger Würzgarten Riesling Kabinett opens with explosive aromatics of ripe peach, apricot, lime zest, and crushed slate, lifted by the vineyard’s signature spicy‑herbal character. On the palate, it’s light, vibrant, and delicately sweet, driven by electric acidity that frames juicy citrus, red apple, pineapple, and a distinctive mineral spice. The finish is long, refreshing, and mouthwatering, striking a precise balance between sweetness and acidity that leaves a clean, invigorating impression.

Food pairing: This Kabinett’s vibrant sweetness and racy acidity make it incredibly versatile at the table, pairing beautifully with spicy Asian cuisine—from Thai curries to Sichuan heat and Korean barbecue—while its freshness complements delicate seafood like shrimp, scallops, and sushi. It also shines alongside pork dishes, especially those with fruit‑based glazes, and matches effortlessly with soft, creamy cheeses such as goat cheese, brie, and camembert. Light salads with citrus or ginger dressings find a natural partner here as well, and thanks to its low alcohol and bright, lively profile, it’s equally delightful served on its own as a refreshing aperitif.

The Domain: The Loosen family has been growing Riesling and producing wine in the Mosel valley for over 200 years. The current owner, Ernst “Erni” Loosen, assumed ownership in 1988, embarking on a quest to greatly improve the quality and international reputation of the estate, the Mosel region, and Riesling in general. Today, Erni is one of the most iconic and influential winemakers in the world. A full range of Riesling styles is produced, following the traditions of both family lines: dry wines from the paternal Loosen side, and Prädikat wines inspired by the maternal branch (the Prüm family). Steep slopes of the Middle Moselle.
