Lackner-Tinnacher Sauvignon Blanc Gamlitz 2024

Alcohol: ~13%

Grape(s): 100% Sauvignon Blanc

Location: Gamlitz, Südsteiermark DAC, Styria, Austria

Tasting Notes: Pale straw yellow with brilliant clarity; intensely aromatic nose of fresh gooseberry, passion fruit, grapefruit zest and elderflower, interwoven with notes of fresh-cut grass, white pepper and a distinctive flinty, slate-driven minerality; medium-bodied with a racy, vibrant acidity and a sleek, focused palate, offering precise flavors of tropical citrus, green herbs and a cool, stony mineral undertone that is the unmistakable signature of South Styrian terroir, leading to a long, zesty and impeccably clean finish.

Notes: Gamlitz is widely regarded as one of the spiritual homes of Austrian Sauvignon Blanc, and Lackner-Tinnacher is among its most distinguished and respected producers. The estate's vineyards are planted on the steep, south-facing Opok slopes — the region's characteristic mix of clay, silt and marine limestone — that impart the wine's defining mineral tension and aromatic complexity. Vinified in stainless steel to preserve the variety's natural freshness and expressive aromatics, the 2024 vintage benefits from the region's warm days and cool nights, which allow for extended ripening and exceptional aromatic development.

Food Pairing: Pairs superbly with grilled asparagus, goat's cheese, seared scallops, herb-crusted fish, vegetable risotto and classic Styrian dishes such as Backhendl and Kürbiskernöl salads.

Winery Story: Lackner-Tinnacher is a prestigious family estate with deep roots in the Gamlitz area of the Südsteiermark, one of Austria's most celebrated and scenically breathtaking wine regions. Under the stewardship of the Tinnacher family, the estate has built a reputation for producing Sauvignon Blanc and Welschriesling of exceptional purity, precision and terroir expression. With a philosophy rooted in sustainable viticulture, careful canopy management on the region's challenging steep slopes, and minimal intervention in the cellar, Lackner-Tinnacher crafts wines that are a benchmark for South Styrian quality — wines that capture the unique interplay of warmth, freshness and mineral complexity that makes this corner of Austria one of the world's most exciting white wine regions.
