Alcohol: 13%

Grape(s)100% Dolcetto

Localization: Italy, Piedmont

Tasting Notes: Intense ruby red with garnet hints releases aromas of dried rose, plum, licorice and spices to the nose. Fresh and lively, it is supported by a good structure and the right tannins.

Notes: The freshly harvested grapes are delicately pressed then left to ferment at a temperature
of 26°C. After 5-6 days, the wine is separated from the pomace and the fermentation is then completed
at lower temperatures to bring out the fruity character of these grapes. The malolactic fermentation to follow.

Food pairing: Traditionally combined with red meats, feathered game, and braised meats.

The Domain: Tenuta Cucco began as a winery in the 1960s. In the local dialect, “cucco” indicates the hilltop location of the oldest part of the vineyard, which is inside the Cru Cerrati.

The winery offers a breathtaking view of the peaks of Mount Monviso, the hills with vineyards, and the Castle of Serralunga d’Alba, with its remarkable narrow structure, in an iconic Italian landscape.

The grapes of Cru Cerrati and Vigna Cucco have a long history of excellence: for centuries, local winemakers have prized them for their unique qualities and characteristics, using them only to produce their finest Barolo wines.

In 1966, the Cappellano family sold Tenuta Cucco to the Stroppiana family, which in turn constructed the first winery. Towards the end of 2015, the estate passed to the Rossi Cairo family, which for 18 years has run the organic and biodynamic farm La Raia in Novi Ligure. Here, they produce Gavi DOCG and Piemonte Barbera DOC certified by Demeter, promoting an agriculture that is not only sustainable but that also preserves the vitality of the soil for future generations to enjoy.
