The flavors on the palate are blackberry, orange pekoe black tea, spiced vanilla cream layered with white chocolate, toasted spiced walnut, dried herbs, and a long finish. Pair with Lamb Shank.

Notes: Two different clones are used in our Petite Sirah blend. The plantings consist of 50% Clone 3 and 50% Clone 6. Clone 3 is a common clone in California, expressing aromatics of blueberry and violets with a tannin structure that is more delicate for Petite Sirah. Clone 6 expresses big robust tannins, a deep opaque purple hue and aromatics of wet stone, salinity, and olives. The fragile grape clusters were handpicked at first light, destemmed and partially crushed, leaving whole berries for fermentation in stainless-steel tanks. The fermenting grapes were pumped over daily to enhance the extraction of vivid color, flavor, and aroma. After settling, the wine was aged in 15% new American oak barrels for 14 months before bottling.

Food pairing: This wine pairs perfectly with hearty meals such as Beef Wellington, Pot Roast, Beef Stew, or Shepherd's Pie.

Winery Story: Amador’s first winery established after Prohibition was founded in 1970 by renowned winemaker Cary Gott, and he released the first wines under the Terra d’Oro label in 1973. Terra d’Oro’s early success with Amador Zinfandel and other wines, in particular Italian varietals, were key in helping re-establish the region’s reputation for fine wine.

In 1988, the Trinchero family, which had been purchasing grapes from the Amador region for 20 years, purchased the winery and 240-acre vineyard.
