After taking over his family's winery in 1984, he became one of the first winemakers in the region to practice biodynamics, and his wines have gained a devoted following ever since. His Marienburg vineyard, a steep slope above the Mosel River, is one of the best sites in the region and has 3 types of slate: blue, red and gray.
