A true craftsman of wine, he worked with determination and conviction for the organic certification of Château La Mothe du Barry and Château les Arromans. Today all the wines produced, all appellations combined, are certified AB. It also wishes to reduce its impact on the environment by selecting packaging for its bottles in line with its values and its responsibility related to the environment and sustainable development.

Joël took over Chateau La Mothe du Barry Vineyard here in Moulon, the family home (nine generations of winegrowers), in 1985. The vines are planted on the clay & limestone slopes of the village, a terroir the Merlot grapes thrive on. From his studies and work placements in France and abroad (Burgundy, Beaujolais, Rioja, California…) he retained his natural curiosity and a taste for discovering all things new which enable him, vintage after vintage, to evolve in his winegrowing and winemaking techniques.

This, in turn, allows him to produce ever more expressive wines, of which the Cuvée le Barry is praised every year in several wine guides. His other wines are also renowned for their quality, like his Entre-Deux-Mers, produced from vines planted on boulbene (fine siliceous soil) terroirs, situated in Naujean et Postiac (white grape varieties absolutely love boulbene terroirs!)
It’s because of Joëls’ passion for this terroir, so typical of Entre-Deux-Mers area, but also because of his motivation to go back to nature and its core values that he started the process of converting to organic viticulture in 2009. It is a well known fact: to be and to remain the owner of a well respected vineyard, one must be endowed with a real aristocracy that identifies itself with the vineyard and the wine. Everything must be sacrificed for this, beginning with interests (…). In order to be a grand cru owner, you must in some way be in love with it… ”His son Georges and then his grandson, Jean, succeeded him as the head of the estate. Under their guidance, Talbot became one of the most famous growths in the Bordeaux region.Following the death of Jean Cordier, his daughters Lorraine and Nancy, took over the reins of Talbot. Enriched with the still vivid memory of knowledge and experience of past generations which preceded them, Lorraine and Nancy worked together to do justice to this Grand Cru with all the talent and respect that it deserved. Today Nancy Bignon Cordier, her husband Jean-Paul, their children Philippine, Marguerite and Gustave Bignon pursue the story of Talbot; a long history which has always united with passion the destiny of a family to that of a vineyard.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0149/9247/4212/products/d7e7fd46ae001b616cb570f2f8699c83930b7c6f.png?v=1768847846
chateau-magneau-graves-2022
Château Magneau Graves ROUGE 2022

Alcohol: 12,5%

Grape(s): Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc

Localization: Bordeaux, France

Description: The red wine is a blend of 50% Merlot, 45% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet Franc. What is in any case certain is that the château is home to a long-established family tradition of cultivating the vine. Today the vineyards are managed by Marie Vialard, a direct descendant of Jacques Mondon who bought the estate in 1895, and Louis Vialard, who restored it to its former glory in the middle of the 20th century.

Château Cissac is located right in the heart of the Médoc region. Its exceptional terroir adjoins that of the prestigious Saint-Estèphe and Pauillac appellations, extending over an area of around a hundred hectares. The soil is mainly sandy gravel on top of clay and limestone, and the vineyards occupy a single tract of land sheltered by the village of Cissac and the forests surrounding it. In keeping with Médoc tradition, the vineyards are mainly planted with their traditional variety, Cabernet Sauvignon. This variety is ideally suited to the type of terroir in Cissac, where its strength and aromas can realise their full potential. The estate’s terroir maximized the potential of this excellent vintage thanks to our 50+-year-old vines and the freshness of the limestone soils. On the nose, the richness of the Merlot is complemented by the Cabernet Franc's extravagance; after aeration, the bouquet develops subtle notes of cassis and violet. The palate explodes with silky, round red and black fruit, while the finish is dominated by black fruit with barely perceptible, rounded tannins.

Blended with elegant Merlots and spicy Petit Verdots, Cabernet Sauvignon produces wines that are particularly complex and expressive.

Respecting the demands of the climate, the particularities of the terroir, the nature of the grape varieties and wine making tradition : these are the core principles which govern the running of the estate. But in order to fully benefit from the intrinsic qualities of its vineyards, and to enable its wines to reveal their maximum intensity, Chateau Cissac is continually striving to improve the quality of its production process. Modernisation has included improving the biodiversity of the soil, introducing a policy of systematically renewing vine stocks, maintaining and renewing barrels, and a sustainable optimisation of age-old winemaking techniques.

Alcohol: 13.5%

Grape(s): 70% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Malbec

Location: Côtes de Blaye, Bordeaux, France

Tasting Notes: The Blaye Cotes du Bordeaux is full-bodied, showing more density and ripeness in this very good vintage for Bordeaux.
